CONCERTS
Students will have four opportunities each year to participate in school concerts:
- WINTER HOLIDAY RECITAL – open to all students
- HONORS RECITAL – open to students who have worked the hardest during the first semester. Those participating are selected by their teachers.
- STUDIO RECITALS – Dates determined by individual teachers. These recitals are for each teacher’s own studio.
- MARATHON CONCERT WEEK – Everyone is encouraged to participate in one of the four days of concerts.
Students at our school have a minimum of four performance opportunities each year. In a typical school year, our students have the opportunity to play at a winter holiday concert. Throughout the year, each teacher presents a studio concert where students of each individual teacher had the chance to perform in an informal setting. In the spring, the school presents an honors recital awarded to students that have improved the most and worked the hardest throughout the year.
Our annual marathon concert is held in the beginning of summer, where all students are encouraged to participate. Over the years, our concert venues have included our own school facilities in both Westport and Greenwich, Steinway Piano Gallery in Westport, and Pequot Library in Southport.
Last year, the week of student recitals culminated in our school-wide concert, where all of our students had the thrilling opportunity to appear on the stages of Lincoln Center in New York City.
