Joe Sabia
TRUMPET
Joe Sabia is a native of Port Chester NY and has been teaching private lessons for 20 years. After graduating with honors from SUNY Purchase’s Conservatory of Music (2008), Joe earned a full scholarship towards a master’s degree in music performance from the Hartt School (2010).
Joe is currently third trumpet in the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra where he has performed many of his favorite works, including Stravinsky’s “Rite of Spring”, Mahler’s 3rd and 5th symphonies, and Verdi’s “Requiem”. Recognizing his love and talent for musical theatre and early jazz, Joe was invited to the principal trumpet chair for the NSO’s performances of Bernstein’s “On the Town” and “West Side Story”, Ellington’s “Harlem”, as well as a concert featuring the sons of Dave Brubeck.
You may have seen Joe play in the orchestra pit at the countless musical theatre performances all over Westchester and Connecticut. Some of his favorites to play are “Legally Blonde”, “In the Heights”, “Anything Goes”, “A Chorus Line”, “Chicago”, and “The Addams Family”. In Joe’s spare time, he arranges pop tunes for his brass groups (can you imagine the intro to “Baba O’Riley” on trumpet?) and enjoys playing guitar and bass.
