Sam Post completed his master's degree in piano performance at Northwestern University, where he won first prize in the 2011 Thaviu-Isaak Piano Competition. While in Chicago, he also won the North Shore Musician's Club competition and the American Opera Society of Chicago Scholarship.

He graduated summa cum laude from Yale in 2009, where he received the senior essay prize for his research in astrophysics. While at Yale he worked as a music director and conductor with the undergraduate opera company, played varsity soccer, and wrote for the Yale Herald and Yale Misfit. He made his recital debut in 2000 with an all-Bach program, and in high school performed as a soloist with the Washington Bach Consort, the Georgetown Symphony Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra. In his spare time, he enjoys playing and watching soccer, composing, and writing.
