Born in 1979, Ning Bo Miao began piano study at age of 6. From youth, he has shown tremendous ability at playing the piano. In 1988, he received a full scholarship to study at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. In the same year, he won first prize at the Xing Hai Cup Children Piano Competition. In 1992, he won second prize in the Ettlingen International Youth Piano Competition in Germany. In the same year, he also won first prize and "the best performing of Chinese composition" in the China National Youth Piano Competition. In 1993, he received the first prize of the Maria-Canals International Youth Piano Competition in Barcelona, Spain.
Mr. Miao also gives recitals, chamber concerts and performs concerto with orchestras worldwide. In 1994, he played concerto with the China National Orchestra, Beijing Symphony Orchestra, China National Youth Symphony Orchestra and Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. He was invited to play the Yellow River piano concerto with the China National Youth Symphony Orchestra in Hong Kong celebrating the return of Hong Kong to China. At solo engagements, he has been invited to give performances in Switzerland, Hong Kong and Japan. He is also the founding member of "Eclipse," the first modern chamber group of China, and has recorded for Wergo Recording Company in Germany. Mr. Miao currently studies with Solomon Mikowsky at the Manhattan School of Music in New York where he receives full scholarship as an outstanding pianist.
