|Kathryn Andersen is a violinist from Pittsfield, Massachusetts. She holds a Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University. She studied privately with Ronald Copes while at The Juilliard School and with Peter Zazofsky and James Buswell while at Harvard.
An active chamber and orchestral musician, she has performed at Ozawa Hall, Symphony Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Avery Fisher Hall and Carnegie Hall, among other venues in the states. She has also traveled to and performed in Germany, the Czech Republic, Japan and China. While at Juilliard, Kathryn performed with the Juilliard Orchestra, Juilliard Chamber Orchestra, New Juilliard Ensemble, and AXIOM Ensemble. At Harvard, she performed with the Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra, Bach Society Orchestra and the Brattle Street Chamber Players. She was a soloist with the Bach Society and Mozart Society Orchestras. She is the former second violinist of the Vinca Quartet.
A dedicated teacher as well, Kathryn currently serves as a teaching artist through the Teaching Artist Collaborative of the Weill Music Institute at Carnegie Hall. She is Suzuki certified and has taught privately for the past nine years. While at Juilliard, she taught in the New York public schools as a teaching fellow for the Instrumental Music Program. She also served as a graduate assistant in Juilliard’s Freshman Quartet Survey class. In 2006, she served as a chamber music coach at the Bay Chamber Concerts’ Next Generation Youth Chamber Music Camp in Rockport, Maine.
